Community Basketball

Basketball for the whole city.

Salisbury Streetball is an open basketball community for everyone in Salisbury. We play at Churchill Gardens, creating a welcoming space for people to enjoy basketball, meet others, stay active and develop their skills. From casual open runs to friendly games, our aim is to give everyone the opportunity to play, improve, compete and belong.

From streetball roots to club community

Salisbury Streetball helped create a space where people could come together through basketball: playing outdoors, meeting new people, building confidence and enjoying the game in a relaxed community environment.

As this community becomes part of Salisbury Sparks, the same spirit continues: open, welcoming, active and focused on giving basketball a stronger home in Salisbury.

Our community mission

Basketball is more than a sport. It gives people a reason to be active, connect with others, build confidence and feel part of something positive. Our community work is about making basketball accessible across Salisbury, especially for young people, families and anyone who wants to get involved.

1

Accessible basketball

We want basketball to be easy to access, whether someone is joining a club team, trying the sport for the first time, playing 3x3, or attending a casual community session.

2

Player development

Community basketball helps players develop confidence, fitness, teamwork, decision-making, discipline and technical skills in a fun and supportive environment.

3

A place to belong

Basketball brings people together. Our goal is to create a safe, positive and inclusive space where players, parents, volunteers and supporters feel welcome.

Churchill Gardens and outdoor basketball

Churchill Gardens has been an important outdoor space for basketball in Salisbury. Outdoor courts give people a place to play informally, meet friends, practise skills and enjoy the game without needing to be part of a formal team.

These spaces matter because they help basketball grow naturally. A player might start by shooting around in the park, then join an open run, then attend a club session, and eventually represent a team.

  • Open access: outdoor basketball gives local people a simple way to play and stay active.
  • Confidence building: informal play helps new players learn at their own pace.
  • Community connection: parks and courts bring people together across ages and backgrounds.
  • Pathway into the club: streetball and open runs can lead players into Salisbury Sparks sessions, teams and events.
  • Positive use of public space: basketball can help create a healthy, active and welcoming local environment.

Churchill Gardens

Churchill Gardens is our main outdoor basketball location in Salisbury. It is an open community space where everyone is welcome to come along, play basketball, meet others, stay active and enjoy the game.

We usually play during the weekend, but sessions depend on the weather. Updates and session details are shared with the community when games are planned.

Be part of the community
